Avolites media servers and Novastar LED processors
Some LED processors have been observed to have specific EDID requirements for incoming video streams which can sometimes result in a media server not displaying correctly.
The best solution is to use a cable with the same connector type at both ends.
If the media server and led processor do not have the same connector type – for example connecting an HDMI server to a DVI processor – then we would recommend converting the signal first via a device such as a matrix switcher or EDID convertor to ensure the EDID requirements of the processor are met.
Whilst it is common to expect an HDMI signal to work over DVI or vice versa, it should be noted that HDMI and DVI signals do have different EDID’s and can be rejected by the processor as a result of this.
Currently, we have tested the following LED processors:
Novastar MCTRL300 ( DVI )
Novastar MCTRL4k ( DVI / HDMI / DP )
Novastar MCTRL660 ( DVI / HDMI )
All of these models were found to produce good signals across all inputs when interfaced with the correct type of port and cable.
