Titan Remote FAQs

1. Why is my iPhone or Android phone locked to portrait mode?
iPhones and Android phones are designed to lock the app in portrait mode for optimal performance. Currently, there is no option for landscape orientation on these devices.

2. Can I use my Android tablet in landscape mode?
Yes. Android tablets will automatically apply the device’s orientation (portrait or landscape) when the app is opened. This orientation will remain until the app is closed and reopened.

3. Does the app on iPads support both portrait and landscape orientations?
Yes. iPads should freely rotate between portrait and landscape modes while using the app.

4. Will the app follow my device’s dark/light mode settings?
Yes, on all platforms, the app follows the dark or light display mode setting of your device. If you change this setting while the app is running, the app will automatically update to reflect the new mode.

5. Why do I see a spinning icon next to the Wi-Fi network name on my Apple device?
When Apple devices connect to a non-internet network, a spinning icon may appear next to the network name in Wi-Fi settings. This is normal behavior and not a sign of network issues. The app should function properly despite the spinner.

6. How do I connect my Android device to a non-internet network?
When connecting to a non-internet network for the first time, your Android device will ask if you want to proceed. Ensure that you select either “Connect only at this time” or “Always Connect” to establish a successful connection.

7. How do I set up a static IP on my Android device?
When setting up a static IP on Android, instead of entering a subnet mask, you will need to enter the Network Prefix Length. This value represents the subnet mask in Android’s network settings.

What is the Network Prefix Length and how does it relate to the Subnet Mask?
The Network Prefix Length is a numerical representation of the subnet mask. Android uses this value instead of the traditional subnet mask format. Below is a chart that shows common subnet masks and their corresponding network prefix lengths:

Subnet Mask Network Prefix Length
255.0.0.0 8
255.255.0.0 16
255.255.255.0 24

How do I find the correct Network Prefix Length for my subnet mask?
You can refer to the chart above to match your subnet mask to its equivalent network prefix length. For example:

  • If your subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, enter 24 as the network prefix length.
  • If your subnet mask is 255.255.0.0, enter 16.

Why does Android use Network Prefix Length instead of a Subnet Mask?
Android uses the network prefix length as a simplified way to represent subnet masks, making it easier to manage IP settings within the system’s networking tools.

8.Console Discovery Issues and Solutions

Console discovery takes over a minute to complete:

  • This issue may be related to Apple Airport access points.
  • Check the network connection strength and ensure your settings are correct.
  • Make sure the mobile device is not too far from the Wi-Fi access point, and that there are no obstructions in the line of sight.
  • If possible, switch to a different or newer Wi-Fi access point, as this can noticeably improve discovery speed.

Console discovery does not occur at all:

  • Verify the network connection strength and settings.
  • Ensure your mobile device is close enough to the Wi-Fi access point and that there are no obstacles blocking the line of sight.
  • Confirm that the console(s) are properly set up on the network.
  • Some networks may block console discovery. In such cases, you can manually add consoles to the discovery page by tapping the ‘+’ icon and entering the console’s IP address. If this doesn’t work, troubleshoot the network for potential connectivity issues.

How do I remove entries from the discovery page?

  • Manually added consoles can be removed by swiping left on the entry and selecting the delete button.
  • Consoles discovered automatically on the current or previous networks cannot be removed. If an entry is greyed out, restarting the app without switching networks will refresh the discovery list and remove those entries.
